Announcing open auditions for C. Hook Theater’s upcoming production of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown!
WHO: Current 8th – 12th grade students
WHERE: La Mesa Arts Academy (LMAAC), 4200 Parks Avenue, La Mesa, 91941
WHEN
- Monday, January 23 from 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm OR
- Tuesday, January 24 from 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm
WHAT TO BRING
- Completed Audition Form (download here). If you are under 18 years of age, you must have a parent/guardian sign the audition form.
- Current school-style photo. Photo will not be returned.
HOW TO PREPARE
Prepare one audition song from a list of options provided by C. Hook Theater. These options, including music and lyrics, can be found at the bottom of this page. During your audition, C. Hook will provide music for the song you have chosen. There is no need to bring a recording. No other music is allowed.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Auditions are on a first-come basis, so please arrive early. You’ll check in, turn in your audition form and photo, receive an audition number, and then wait to audition. The wait time may be up to thirty minutes. Auditions are closed and private. No one, including family members, will be allowed to watch.
CALL BACKS
The call back list will be posted by audition number on the website on Wednesday, January 25 after 5:00 pm. It is your responsibility to check the posted call back list. No phone calls will be made.
If your audition number is listed, please attend call back auditions, which will be held Friday, January 27, from 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm at LMAAC. You must be on time and attend the entire audition. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes that you can move in.
CAST SELECTION
Final cast selections will be posted by audition number on the C. Hook website on Sunday, January 29 after 5:00 pm. The final character list will be posted on Monday, January 30 after 5:00 pm. No phone calls will be made.
PRODUCTION FEE
Each cast member will be required to raise $330 to participate in the production. This fee is due on Monday, February 13, 2023.
ORIENTATION
Cast members and families must attend an orientation on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 6:00 pm at LMAAC. We will discuss cast responsibilities and sign up for parent committees. Refreshments provided!
FAMILY SUPPORT & PRODUCTION COMMITTEES
Family support is necessary for this production to be successful. All parents will be asked to be a part of a production committee, and everyone will be required to sell tickets.
REHEARSALS
Rehearsals will begin the week of April 17, 2023, and are held most Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm, and most Saturdays from 8:00 am - 11:00 am at LMAAC. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be available on this site. The final week of rehearsals will be held at the Joan B. Kroc Theater.
C. HOOK THEATER
C. Hook Theater is a self-supporting organization that relies on volunteer time and fund-raising efforts. A strong spirit of cooperation among the directing team, the production team, the cast, and their families creates an experience of lasting value!
